First Annual 'Dubstep Walk' Invades Downtown North Bend This December

A North Bend resident is busy planning for a 'Dubstep Walk' this December.  The event will be held in downtown North Bend on a Friday evening (still to be determined).

Dubstep is a style of music characterized by its sparse, syncopated rhythmic patterns, and prominent sub-bass frequencies.  The genre originated in South London in the 2000s from the popular electronic dance music of that time.

The North Bend man responsible for the ideas of the event, Dillan Pittman, has been a dubstep fanatic since the late 2000s.  "You know, the music - it just calls to me.  I was going through a very rough time in my life.  Then I found dubstep.  I can honestly say that dubstep saved my life.  We have the Blues Walk and we have the Jazz Walk.  Both are popular.  One day I was walking and just thought to myself, the city needs a Dubstep Walk too!"

The Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce seems to agree.  Director Jaydan Miles is optimistic that dubstep fans across the Puget Sound Region will be drawn to downtown North Bend the evening of the event.  "So far, one venue has agreed to participate, but we're expecting we will have many more venues signing on soon.  We are really hoping it will become an annual event."

When asked about Dubstep's declining popularity, Pittman answered "Dubstep isn't dying, it's thriving!  I honestly, think it will outlast most other popular styles of music."  Laughing, Pittman added, "Your grandchildren won't know what rock or rap is, but I think they will know what dubstep is!"

Pittman plans to perform at the event, but is looking for other dubstep artists to participate as well.  He expects a website for the event to be online soon.  "I checked out the book 'Building Websites For Dummies' from the North Bend Library and I'm currently learning HTML.  It will be up soon."
